Crazy Richards

16 Aug

So one of my all time favorite foods is…peanut butter.  If there’s one food I couldn’t live without it would be peanut butter. A few months back this amazing brand that goes by the name of Crazy Richards were kind enough to send me a box of samples to review.  This peanut butter is hands down some of the best peanut butter I have ever had.  The only ingredient used in their products is peanuts.  No added oils or sweeteners and it is incredibly creamy, probably the creamiest, smoothest peanut butter I ever had.  I was sent a jar of creamy, crunchy and pure, powdered peanut butter.  I was also sent a jar of their almond and cashew butter as well…absolutely delicious. I wasted no time putting these samples to use.  I topped my oatmeal, toast, bananas and yogurt with stuff for weeks. If you’re all for eating one hundred percent natural peanut butter I highly suggest trying Crazy Richards, you won’t be disappointed I promise. Check them out at www.crazyrichards.com

Western Bagel

16 Aug

I don’t know about you guys, but I love carbs.  I also like to watch my intake of them 80% of the time.  A few months back I discovered a brand called Western Bagel and they were kind enough to send me some free samples of their bagels, which are surprisingly quite low in net carbohydrates.  I really enjoyed their Perfect 10 bagels.  Not only were they delicious, but they only had 10 net carbs, yup that’s right only 10 net carbs!  These bagels contain 150 calories and a whopping 19 grams of protein.  If you are looking for a low carb, high protein option for a quick breakfast I highly suggest trying these out.  They can be purchased in healthy grain or everything.  The other type of bagels they carry are called Alternative Bagels.  These bagels are only 120 calories and contain 10 grams of fiber.  These are perfect for a snack or quick breakfast and the texture and taste were great.  These bagels come in plain, roasted onion, wheat, blueberry and cinnamon spice.  Go check them out! western bagel

I’m Back!

24 Apr

Hi Guys!  It’s been a long time, but I am back!  Over the last few months the two things I have learned to master are moderation and balance.  A healthy lifestyle and mindset are all about these two things.  Being able to enjoy the foods you love is important and its taken me quite a while to get a hold on that.  Finding healthy, fun alternatives is actually really fun and makes “dieting” alot easier.  Over the next several months I will be sharing a ton of new product reviews with you that I have incorporated into my healthy eating lifestyle.

Back At It

8 May

Hi guys!  I’ve disappeared from here for a while but I am back and super excited to share some great news.  It took me a while to discover what exactly I wanted to do with my life and I finally found it.  I am currently working as an assistant for a technology company in my hometown and going to school for business management.  I love nutrition and I always will be realized it was more of a life style that I enjoyed not a career.  I have also discovered a better approach to go about healthy eating and trying to lose fat.  In the past I would drive myself crazy with calories, counting carbs etc.  I was miserable and underweight and it wasn’t healthy at all.  Currently I am trying to shape  up a bit before summer hits and I am doing it in a much  healthier way.  Intuitive eating is hands down the best way to go about being healthy and living a healthy lifestyle.  Low-carb diets, juices, cleanses, and fasts are not healthy and definitely not fun.  Intuitive eating allows you to eat what you enjoy in moderation without feeling guilty or making sacrifices.   It also balances macro nutrients out and allows you to enjoy carbs, fats, and protein without feeling deprived.  All meals should include each of these nutrients.  For more information about intuitive eating read some articles online or go to www.intuitiveeating.com and check out the book by Evelyn and Elyse.

Quest Bar Review

22 Jun

A few months back Quest Nutrition introduced cookie dough to their amazing line of protein bars.  This is hands down my favorite flavor and protein bar of all time.  Packed with 20  grams of protein, tons of fiber, low carb, all natural..this bar has it all.   These bars taste great on their own but taste a million times better heated in the microwave or baked in the oven at 350 for about 4 min.  Eating a warm chocolate chip cookie with absolutely no guilt? What more could you ask for?  I highly recommend giving these bars a try.  They taste great and they’re great for you, especially after a workout, pre-workout, or a quick on the go snack.  Check them out at  http://www.questproteinbar.com/.

Artisana Review!

13 Sep

A little over a month ago I received a very nice package full of heaven from the great people at Artisana! The package included one small jar of coconut butter, one small jar of walnut butter and eight squeeze packs including: cacao bliss, cashew butter, almond butter, coconut oil, walnut butter, coconut butter, pecan butter, and macadamia butter.  All of these butters have either one or two ingredients making them a completely healthy, clean eat.  These nut and coconut butters are not only delicious, they are loaded with multiple health benefits.  Scientific studies show that incorporating nuts into your diet reduces your risk of heart disease and lowering LDL cholesterol (the bad kind).  Coconut has been shown to help reduce LDL cholesterol, help balance female hormes, and assist in weight loss.  The products that Artisana creates are true super foods!  They are also gluten and peanut free! Each and every product that Artisana makes is unique, fresh, pure, healthy and high quality.

First thing I dove into was the walnut butter and it was delicious.  Made only from walnuts and cashews! This tasted great spread on apple slices.

Next up was the cashew butter which had a very rich cashew taste.  I was never a big cashew fan but this nut butter did not disappoint! I squeezed it over some high protein french toast with some berry jam and the combo was perfect!

Ok so I think I may have found my latest obsession and I fell completely in love after trying coconut butter for the first time.  This was hands down my favorite out of all of the samples that Artisana provided me with.  It was rich and creamy and tasted absolutely amazing! It was so good I could eat it out of a jar with  a spoon…but it did taste great on protein pancakes, fruit, toast, anything!

Pecan butter is made from pecans and cashews and is perfect paired with pumpkin and my pumpkin pancakes!  Talk about the best combination for fall!  The flavor was very true to the name and completely natural tasting.

Artisana coconut oil is non-hydrogenated, cholesterol-free and made of medium-chain fatty acids which are broken efficiently by the body, providing an immediate source of energy.  I used the coconut oil to cook veggies in as well as bananas for breakfast..perfect combo!

Almond butter has always been a favorite of mine so this one obviously did not disappoint!

Cacao bliss was another favorite of mine..probably because it was coconut butter that involved chocolate.  Talk about heaven.  It is made from  organic raw coconut butter, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic agave syrup, organic cacao, and organic cacao butter.

Macadamia nuts have never been my favorite but this butter was so good! I used my sample of it ontop of some flax seed waffles and the taste was creamy yet crunchy with a slight sweetness.

I want to thank Artisana for providing me these great samples! They were all amazing! If you love nut butters as much as I do check out their website www.artisanafoods.com and get some for yourself you won’t be disappointed!
